Privacy policy

This is the English translation of the German Datenschutzerklärung, provided for convenience. In case of any discrepancy, the German version governs.

The short version

• Your audio never reaches us. It travels from your phone to your own Mac, over your own network or a cable. There is no Micyfi server involved at any point.
• The app contains no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising SDK. It makes no network connections other than to the Mac you point it at.
• There is no account. Nothing to register, no email needed to use the software.
• This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from third-party servers — no external fonts, no CDN, no tag manager. That is also why you are not being asked to accept anything.

Controller

The controller responsible for data processing under the GDPR is the provider named in the legal notice:

There is no data protection officer, and none is required: Micyfi is run by one person and processes no personal data beyond the server logs described below.

The Micyfi apps

Audio

The captured audio is sent from the Android app to the macOS receiver directly, using your local network (Wi-Fi), a USB connection, or a direct Bluetooth link. It is not routed through, copied to or stored on any server operated by us. We have no technical means of accessing it.

What the Android app stores on your phone

Your settings are kept locally in the app's own private storage and are never transmitted to us:

• the pairing code and the receiver's address
• your chosen detail level, latency profile, transport and audio format
• the selected microphone, capture mode and encoder settings
• the result of the microphone probe — how many channels each capture mode produced on your device
• whether this installation owns Micyfi Pro — a single yes/no, remembered so that Pro keeps working when the phone has no connection. It holds no personal data, no order number and no account name.

Uninstalling the app removes all of it.

What the macOS receiver stores on your Mac

In ~/Library/Application Support/Micyfi/: the pairing code (readable only by your user account), the selected audio device, and the channel assignment for phones that have connected. All local, none transmitted.

Permissions the Android app requests, and why

Microphone

The purpose of the app. Audio is streamed to your Mac and is not recorded to the phone's storage.

Network, Wi-Fi and multicast state

To find your Mac on the local network and to keep the radio in a low-latency state while streaming.

Bluetooth

To carry the stream over a direct Bluetooth link, and to activate a Bluetooth headset's microphone if you select one.

Foreground service, notifications and wake lock

So the stream survives the screen turning off, which Android requires a visible notification for.

Legal basis: performance of the contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — these are what you asked the software to do.

This website

Server log files

Our hosting provider records the usual access data when a page is requested: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, browser and operating system version, and the amount of data transferred. This is needed to deliver the site and to detect abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, in the secure and stable operation of the site. These logs are deleted after 14 days.

Hosting is provided by netcup GmbH, Germany, acting as a processor under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies, uses no analytics, and embeds nothing from third-party servers — fonts, styles, scripts and images are all served from our own domain. No consent banner is therefore required, and none is shown.

Contacting us

If you email us, your message and address are processed solely to answer you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry relates to a contract, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f). We keep such correspondence for as long as needed to deal with the matter and any statutory retention periods that apply.

Purchases

Micyfi Pro is bought inside the Android app through Google Play's billing system. Google — not us — is the seller for that transaction: it takes the payment, issues the receipt, handles VAT and handles refunds, as its own controller and under its own privacy policy.

We never see your card details, your name or your email address. What reaches us is Google's payout and sales reporting: order numbers, the product bought, and the country the sale was taxed in — nothing that identifies you. Those records are kept for ten years under German tax law (§ 147 AO, § 14b UStG); the legal basis for that retention is Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.

App distribution

The Android app is distributed solely through Google Play. When you install it, Google processes data under its own privacy policy and as its own controller. We receive only aggregated, anonymous statistics — install counts, ratings, crash summaries — and cannot identify individual users from them.

The macOS receiver is downloaded from this website instead, and is free. That download is an ordinary request to our server: it appears in the access log described under Server log files above, with the same 14-day deletion, and nothing else is recorded. There is no registration, no licence key, and no download counted against a person. Once installed, the app never contacts a server of ours — it does not even check for updates, so new versions have to be fetched from this page.

Recipients of your data

We do not sell personal data and do not pass it on except where necessary to run the service: the hosting provider, the payment provider, and public authorities where we are legally obliged to.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the data we hold about you (Art. 15)
• have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16)
• have data erased (Art. 17)
• restrict processing (Art. 18)
• receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20)
• object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21)
• withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out

To exercise any of these, write to the address given in the legal notice.

You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible is the one for your place of residence or for our registered office. For us that is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, www.lda.bayern.de.

Changes

We will update this policy when the software or the law changes. The current version always applies and is dated at the top of this page.
